I'm about to name two of my local businesses and I do not have their permission.

Good service exists, and you're about to read about it.
Yesterday my faithful 25 year old Commodore and I were outside in the sun chatting away about the great trips we've done together when 'clunk' the rear vision mirror just dropped off the windscreen. So I shot off down to Repco to see what adhesive they had.
Great service part one - the guy was brilliantly honest saying
"I could sell you some adhesive, but you'd be better to wait till tomorrow and go to a windscreen place."
He COULD have taken my money, but he chose to give me the better solution, which means I'll DEFINITELY go back there again.
But this morning, I rang Hamilton Windscreens and it was brilliant from start to finish. They were the first open of all of them on google (7.30am). At 7.29am I rang them and a very cheery bloke who - didn't have to - answered the phone and gave me his name and greeted me like an old friend. I told him about my predicament and he said "Sure, bring it in, we'll fix it on the spot!".
So I did.
By the time I got there, the place was pumping!
Radio blasting, staff whistling, the place was really moving. The guy was on the phone but he gave me a friendly wave and gestured to me that he'd just be a minute. So I stood there with my rear vision mirror in hand while the couriers raced in and out, customers rushed all over the place and - well, it was full on!
As I was standing there, a woman who worked there saw me and said 'Oh, do you need that put back on?" and she dropped what she was doing, raced around looking for the right glue and stuck it back on. Whole job - 10 minutes.
1 - they made me feel welcome on the phone
2 - they made a quick decision to say yes
3 - they were friendly when I arrived
4 - they dropped what they were doing to fix a customer's problem straight away and
5 - they treated me with real respect and kindness, but naturally, as if it was what they do all the time.
I will definitely be going back, not just because they solved my problem beautifully, but because they showed me that there are fantastic businesses around that really do great service naturally.
Good service begets good customers.
And I know that every time I look at that mirror I'll smile a wee bit, and remember that good old kiwi service isn't just behind me in the distance.
